Choir! Choir! Choir! is a Toronto-based participatory music project founded by Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman — the concept is that the audience IS the choir. No audition, no prior singing experience required. Attendees show up, learn a song by a pop artist or indie act in real time over the course of the evening, and then perform it together as a mass choir. They have done this with David Byrne, Rufus Wainwright, Patti Smith, and thousands of strangers in venues across North America and the UK.
About the Performance
Choir! Choir! Choir! events are fundamentally different from watching a band play. You are not in the audience — you are in the performance. The organizers teach the vocal parts in segments, build the full arrangement, and then record the whole room singing together. People who come skeptically tend to leave having sung their lungs out and feeling something they did not expect. For Albany, this is exactly the kind of programming that distinguishes The Egg from a conventional concert venue.
About The Egg
The Egg is in downtown Albany at Empire State Plaza, with Plaza garage parking. The main hall’s configuration works well for participatory events — the sightlines keep the leaders visible from most of the room, and the acoustics make hearing the combined choir genuinely rewarding.
