How Upstate Concerts Makes Money
Upstate Concerts is a free resource for live music fans across Upstate New York. To keep it that way, we earn revenue through affiliate partnerships with ticketing platforms. Here is how that works, explained plainly.
Affiliate Ticket Links
When you click a “Get Tickets” button or ticket link on our site, you are directed to a third-party ticketing platform to complete your purchase. If you buy a ticket through one of these links, Upstate Concerts may earn a small commission from the sale.
This does not cost you anything extra. The ticket price is the same whether you arrive at the platform through our link or on your own.
Our Affiliate Partners
We maintain affiliate relationships with the following ticketing platforms:
- Ticketmaster
- TicketNetwork
- StubHub
- Eventbrite
- SeatGeek
- Vivid Seats
This list may change over time as we add or remove partners.
How to Identify Affiliate Links
Links labeled “Get Tickets,” “Buy Tickets,” or similar calls to action on our site are typically affiliate links. These links use the rel="sponsored" attribute as required by Google and the FTC.
Editorial Independence
Our affiliate relationships do not influence which shows, artists, or venues we cover. Every concert preview, venue profile, and feature article is driven by editorial judgment — what is interesting, what is significant, and what our readers in Upstate New York want to know about.
We cover shows at venues that do not use any of our affiliate platforms. We recommend events that generate zero affiliate revenue. Our editorial calendar is built around the music, not the commission structure.
How We Handle Ticket Links
When multiple ticketing platforms offer tickets for the same event, we typically link to the primary or official ticketing source first. If a venue sells tickets directly through its own box office, we link there — even if no affiliate commission is involved.
Our goal is to connect you with the most reliable and fairly priced ticket source, not to maximize affiliate clicks.
Display Advertising and Sponsorships
In addition to affiliate commissions, Upstate Concerts earns revenue from display advertising and newsletter sponsorships. Sponsored content is always clearly labeled. Advertising partnerships never influence our editorial coverage or recommendations.
Why This Disclosure Exists
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires that websites disclose material connections with companies whose products or services they recommend. This page fulfills that requirement.
We believe in transparency. You deserve to know how this site is funded and to trust that our recommendations are genuine.
