Penn’s Peak is perched on a mountain outside Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, and if you have not made the drive out there for a show yet, this is a good reason to start. On Friday, October 9, the mountaintop venue welcomes Dokken with special guest Lynch Mob — a double bill that should mean plenty to anyone who spent time in the ’80s hard rock lane.
About Dokken
Dokken came out of Los Angeles in the early 1980s and built one of the decade’s more durable hard rock catalogs: Tooth and Nail (1984), Under Lock and Key (1985), and Back for the Attack (1987), which reached No. 13 on the Billboard 200. The band earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Instrumental in 1989, disbanded that same year, and eventually found their way back together in the mid-’90s.
The current lineup — Don Dokken on vocals, Mick Brown on drums, Jon Levin on guitar, and Chris McCarvill on bass — released Heaven Comes Down in October 2023. A Netflix biopic about the band is reportedly in development, which adds a new wave of visibility to a catalog that was already getting a fresh listen.
The wild card on the bill is Lynch Mob, helmed by original Dokken guitarist George Lynch. Lynch and Don Dokken have a famously complicated history — which makes seeing the two on the same marquee, in the same room, all the more compelling.
