Duane Betts carries one of the more significant names in Southern rock — his father is Dickey Betts, co-founder of the Allman Brothers Band and the guitarist behind “Ramblin’ Man” and “Blue Sky.” Duane has built his own career separately, first with the Allman Betts Band and now with Palmetto Motel, a project that works in the same general territory as the family legacy while pushing toward its own direction.
About the Performance
Palmetto Motel plays Southern rock-informed Americana with enough guitar work to satisfy audiences who come for the heritage and enough forward motion to keep the music from feeling like museum exhibition. For Albany fans of the Allman Brothers, the Dead, or anything in that interstitial zone between rock and roots music, this show makes a strong case for a Wednesday night in April.
About The Egg
The Egg is located at Empire State Plaza in downtown Albany. Parking in the Plaza garages is straightforward. The main hall’s intimate configuration is the right setup for a guitar-forward rock show in a listening room context.
