About Eddie 9V
Born Brooks Mason in Atlanta, Eddie 9V spent a decade grinding the roots music circuit in a city that does not hand anything to anybody. His sound is a collision — Southern soul and blues at the center, with rock and funk pushing in from the edges. The man plays guitar like he is settling an argument, and he sings like the argument was about something that mattered.
He is now touring nationally behind his debut release on Dan Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound label. That is not a small detail. Auerbach has built Easy Eye into one of the few labels that understands how to record music rooted in tradition without embalming it. The Pawling spot is a dinner-and-a-show venue in the Hudson Valley, and it is one of the few rooms in upstate New York where the intimacy is not a euphemism for cramped. You are close to the stage.
