George Thorogood & The Destroyers at Penn’s Peak | May 3, 2026

By Tanya Reeves · April 8, 2026

George Thorogood has been doing the same thing for fifty years, and the remarkable thing is that he’s never made it feel routine. The Delaware-born guitarist and his Destroyers built their career on a specific proposition: take the blues — Elmore James, John Lee Hooker, Bo Diddley — play it as loud and as hard as possible, and don’t apologize for it. The formula produced a catalog of beloved rock radio staples and a live reputation as one of the great, unfussy acts in American music. They bring The Baddest of the Bad 2026 tour to Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe on May 3rd.

Thorogood’s guitar playing is deeply rooted in the slide guitar tradition, but he approaches it with a Telecaster-wielding bluntness that sits squarely between blues authenticity and hard rock energy. Songs like “Bad to the Bone,” “Who Do You Love,” “Move It On Over,” and “I Drink Alone” have become genuine American standards — the kind of music that plays at baseball games and biker rallies and backyard parties with equal credibility. There’s a reason the man has sold over fifteen million records.

The Destroyers remain a tight unit — Jeff Simon on drums and Bill Blough on bass give Thorogood the engine he needs, and the live show keeps the same emphasis on feel over flash that has always defined the band. This is music to drink beer and stomp your foot to, which Thorogood would likely take as the highest possible compliment.

Penn’s Peak is a well-suited room for this caliber of touring act. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster. Showtime is 8:00 PM.
