Jack Johnson is one of those artists who found his exact frequency early and never needed to leave it. On July 1, 2026, he brings that unhurried, sun-worn acoustic world to CMAC in Canandaigua — an outdoor venue in the Finger Lakes that feels tailor-made for exactly this kind of evening. Ecuadorian guitar duo Hermanos Gutierrez opens, and the pairing is inspired.

About the Show

Jack Johnson came out of surfing culture and film school in Hawaii, made a movie (Thicker Than Water), and then recorded a soundtrack that somehow became a phenomenon. That was 2001. Twenty-five years later, he’s still doing the same thing — playing warm, acoustic-leaning folk-pop with the ease of a man who’s never been interested in performing so much as he has in simply sharing songs. “Banana Pancakes,” “Better Together,” “Flake,” “Sitting, Waiting, Wishing” — the catalog is deep enough now that there’s no way to fit it all in one night, and he doesn’t try to. The shows breathe.

Hermanos Gutierrez — brothers Estevan and Alejandro from Zurich by way of Ecuador — have built one of the more devoted followings in instrumental guitar music over the past few years. Their playing is patient, cinematic, rooted in Latin American folk traditions, and quietly arresting. They are not background music. They deserve your full attention before Johnson takes the stage, and Johnson, to his credit, clearly agrees.

This is a first-of-July show in the Finger Lakes. That sentence should be enough.

Venue Info

CMAC occupies a hillside site outside Canandaigua that gives it something most outdoor venues in upstate New York lack: genuine natural beauty as part of the experience. The lawn rolls back from the pavilion stage with enough room that the 15,000-person capacity never feels crowded, and the Finger Lakes sky above on a clear July evening is its own reward. Canandaigua Lake is a short drive from the venue entrance. The winery corridor running south through the region turns a concert into the anchor of a proper summer day if you plan it right.

Come early. Leave late. The venue handles traffic well as long as you’re not the last car in the lot. Full details at CMAC. What else is happening in the region at Finger Lakes.

Tickets & Pricing

Tickets start at $79. For the kind of midsummer evening this show will almost certainly be — two acts with real chemistry, a venue with genuine outdoor charm, on the first of July — that’s fair.
