James Taylor performs at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 7:30 PM. There’s no overstating this pairing — one of the most important singer-songwriters in American music history, performing on the grounds where Woodstock happened. If there’s a more fitting venue in the country for James Taylor, nobody’s found it yet.
About James Taylor
James Taylor doesn’t need an introduction, but he deserves one anyway. Five decades of music that has woven itself into the fabric of American life — “Fire and Rain,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Carolina in My Mind,” “Sweet Baby James.” His voice is one of those rare instruments that sounds exactly the same live as it does on record, and his band has been one of the tightest in the business for years. A JT show is warm, unhurried, and impossibly musical. He tells stories between songs. He makes 15,000 people feel like they’re sitting in his living room.
If you want to revisit the classics before the show, James Taylor’s catalog on Amazon is a deep well worth returning to.
The Venue
Bethel Woods Center for the Arts sits on the original site of the 1969 Woodstock festival in Sullivan County. The weight of that history is real — you feel it walking through the grounds, and you’ll feel it when James Taylor starts playing. The amphitheater has excellent sight lines from both the pavilion and the lawn, and the on-site museum documenting the original festival is worth arriving early for. It’s a beautiful drive through the Hudson Valley, and the surrounding area has dining options in Bethel and along Route 17B. Full Bethel Woods venue guide here.
