Lloyd Cole comes to Town Ballroom in Buffalo in April 2026. The British songwriter who defined a strain of literate, Velvet Underground-influenced indie pop in the mid-1980s has never stopped making records, and an intimate club show is exactly where his catalog sounds best.
About Lloyd Cole
Lloyd Cole formed Lloyd Cole and the Commotions in Glasgow in 1982 and released three albums — Rattlesnakes (1984), Easy Pieces (1985), and Mainstream (1987) — that established him as one of the most literary and melodically gifted songwriters of his generation. Rattlesnakes in particular remains a touchstone for anyone who came up on British indie: name-dropping Simone de Beauvoir, Truman Capote, and Chekhov while delivering melodies that refused to be cerebral at the expense of pleasure. His subsequent solo career has continued across over a dozen albums. He relocated to New York City (later Massachusetts) decades ago, but his audience in the northeastern US remains devoted.
