Minus The Bear at Town Ballroom in Buffalo on September 14 is a reunion that the math-rock and indie-rock communities have been waiting for. The Seattle band called it quits in 2018 after nearly two decades of making music that was simultaneously technical and groovy — tapped guitar harmonics, complex time signatures, and lyrics about the kinds of nights you barely remember but cannot forget. Their breakup left a gap that nobody else has quite filled.
Town Ballroom is one of Buffalo’s best rooms for a show like this. The Western New York venue’s sound system handles Minus The Bear’s layered production beautifully, and the capacity means the reunion energy in the room is going to be palpable.
