Bingham grew up across the American Southwest — Hobbs, New Mexico by birth, the rodeo circuit by circumstance, Laredo, Texas by formative accident. His sound pulls from that geography: folk, blues, country, and rock with cinematic scope. His 2007 debut Mescalito established him as a songwriter with serious instincts, and 2010’s “The Weary Kind,” co-written with T Bone Burnett for Crazy Heart, confirmed it with an Academy Award, Grammy, Golden Globe, and Critics’ Choice Award. The Texas Gentlemen — Ryan Ake on guitars, Cody Huggins on guitar and pedal steel, Daniel Creamer on piano and organ, Scott Lee on bass, Paul Grass on drums, and Richard Bowden on fiddle and mandolin — are not a hired road band.
