About SatchVai Band
Joe Satriani and Steve Vai are two of the most technically gifted guitarists alive, and they’ve known each other since Vai was literally Satriani’s student in Long Island in the late 1970s. Their paths diverged into legendary careers — Satriani with his melodic instrumental rock (“Surfing with the Alien,” “Summer Song”), Vai with his boundary-pushing virtuosity (from Frank Zappa’s band to “For the Love of God”). The Surfing with the Hydra tour puts them on stage together, trading licks and sharing a band. For guitar fans, this is the equivalent of Messi and Ronaldo on the same team.
