Twenty-five years. “Break the Cycle” turns 25 in 2026, and Staind is marking the occasion the only way that actually means anything — by performing it live, at scale, with Hoobastank and Hinder on the bill for good measure. September 19 at Darien Lake.

About the Show

When “Break the Cycle” dropped in 2001, it went to number one, sat there, and then kept selling. The album moved over eight million copies in the United States alone and produced “It’s Been Awhile,” which was at a certain point inescapable in a way that few rock singles manage without crossing into parody. What the anniversary tour is really about, though, is what that album meant to the people who lived inside it during those years — the combination of Aaron Lewis’s raw vocal delivery and music that hit with real emotional weight in a way that post-grunge at its best always could.

The Break the Cycle 25th Anniversary Tour gives Staind a framework to perform that album front-to-back, which is a different experience than a career retrospective set. You know what you are getting and roughly in what order, and that knowledge shifts how you listen. The album holds up — not as a nostalgia object but as a collection of songs with genuine craft behind them.

Hoobastank and Hinder are not afterthoughts here. Both bands have catalogs that radio programmed heavily enough in the early 2000s that their sets will feel like memory-retrieval sessions for the right audience. “The Reason.” “Lips of an Angel.” These songs land harder than anyone who dismisses them is willing to admit.

Late September at Darien Lake. The season is closing out, the amphitheater vibe shifts to something more settled, and a crowd with shared musical memories from a specific era tends to be exceptionally good company.
