Steel Panther’s Twenty Twenty $ex Tour hits Empire Live in Albany on April 25, and if you know what you are getting into, you are already excited. If you do not, here is the short version: Steel Panther plays hair metal parody that is played so well it stops being parody and becomes the thing itself. The musicianship is legitimately excellent — Satchel shreds with the best of them — and the comedy is crude enough to make the audience equal parts laughing and cringing.
Empire Live in the Capital Region has the stage and sound for a production like this. The Albany venue handles both the volume and the spectacle that Steel Panther brings, and the crowd for this show is going to be in on the joke from note one.
