About Tony Orlando
Tony Orlando had one of the more interesting careers in American pop — he was a successful songwriter and demo singer in the early ’60s before the breakout success of “Knock Three Times” (1970) and “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree” (1973) with Dawn turned him into a household name. Both songs hit number one; “Yellow Ribbon” spent three weeks at the top and became one of the best-selling singles of the decade. His television variety show ran from 1974 to 1976 and cemented him as a mainstream entertainment figure of that era. He’s continued touring and performing for decades since, maintaining a warm relationship with audiences who grew up with the music.
