Tori Amos and a piano in a theater is about as close to a sacred experience as popular music gets. The In Times Of Dragons Tour lands at Artpark’s Mainstage Theater in Lewiston on August 4, and the intimate indoor setting is precisely where this show belongs.

Amos has been a singular force in music since Little Earthquakes rewrote the rules for what a solo artist with a piano could communicate — and at what volume. More than three decades into her career, she remains one of the most technically gifted and emotionally unguarded performers working. Her relationship with the instrument is physical and percussive in a way that most pianists never attempt; she plays the full body of the Bösendorfer, not just the keys. Her concerts are not recitals — they are communions.

About the Show

The In Times Of Dragons Tour suggests new material is in the pipeline, and Amos has a track record of using tours to debut songs that later become album centerpieces. Regardless of the setlist composition, expect the hallmarks: extended improvisations, unexpected cover interpretations that recontextualize familiar songs entirely, and dynamic shifts that move from near-silence to full force within a measure.

Amos solo — or with minimal accompaniment — is the purest version of the experience. The Mainstage Theater at Artpark provides the kind of focused, enclosed environment where every dynamic shift registers. This is not a show where you want to be on a lawn 200 feet from the stage. This is a show where proximity and silence between the notes are half the point.

Venue Info

Artpark’s Mainstage Theater is the indoor performance space — separate from the summer amphitheater that overlooks the Niagara River Gorge. The theater offers an intimate seated experience that works beautifully for artists of Amos’s caliber. Artpark sits on 150 acres of state park land in Lewiston, roughly 10 minutes from Niagara Falls and about 30 minutes north of downtown Buffalo.

The Western NY region offers plenty to pair with a show here. Lewiston’s restaurant row on Center Street is walkable from the venue, and the gorge trails are worth exploring if you arrive early.
