Your Guide to Live Music in Upstate New York

Mohawk Valley Concerts & Live Music

Casino stages and heritage theaters in the heart of the Empire State

The Sound of the Mohawk Valley

The Mohawk Valley stretches from Utica to the edge of the Capital Region, following the historic Erie Canal corridor through some of New York’s most storied small cities. The concert scene here is anchored by Turning Stone Resort Casino, which brings major national acts to an intimate, professionally produced setting year-round.

While Turning Stone does the heavy lifting on the touring circuit, the Mohawk Valley’s music culture is deeper than any single venue. Utica’s Stanley Theatre — a 1928 movie palace — hosts concerts, Broadway tours, and comedy shows. The region’s summer festivals and community events round out a scene that rewards exploration.

This is a region where you might catch a major legacy act at Turning Stone on Friday and discover a local bluegrass jam at a Utica brewery on Saturday. That mix is the Mohawk Valley’s charm.

Exploring the Mohawk Valley

Before & After the Show

Turning Stone is a self-contained resort — multiple restaurants, a spa, golf courses, and a casino floor mean you never have to leave. But if you do, Utica’s Varick Street has a growing craft brewery and restaurant scene worth exploring. Try Utica’s famous Chicken Riggies while you’re in town.

Getting Around

I-90 (Thruway) is the main corridor through the Mohawk Valley. Turning Stone is right off exit 33 in Verona. Utica is at exit 31. Both are about 90 minutes from Albany and Syracuse. Amtrak’s Empire Corridor stops in Utica and Rome.

Best Time to Visit

Turning Stone books events year-round, with the heaviest concert schedule from spring through fall. Summer brings outdoor festivals and events across the valley. The Mohawk Valley’s fall foliage along the canal corridor is an underrated gem.
