If you want to see what 47 years of Western New York dance tradition looks like in one morning — get to Shea’s Performing Arts Center by 9:00 AM on June 13. Dance Spectrum’s annual “Do You Wanna Dance” recital opens its 2026 run with the Children’s Program Showcase at 10:00 AM, putting the studio’s youngest performers — ages 18 months through 8 years — on one of Buffalo‘s most storied stages.

About Dance Spectrum
\n\n
Patty Neal founded Dance Spectrum in Depew, NY in 1979, and it has been a fixture in the Western New York dance community for over 47 years. The program runs a 32-week season across styles including ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, musical theater, and acro — serving dancers from toddlers through adults. The annual Shea’s recital caps the season, drawing families from Lancaster to Amherst to Orchard Park to one of downtown Buffalo’s most celebrated stages.

The faculty is worth noting. Instructors include teachers with Doctorates of Physical Therapy, a mental health counselor, and a teaching assistant specializing in special needs. The studio is woman-owned, and it donates to a local Western New York charity or organization each month throughout the season.
