If you have never watched a local dance studio fill one of Buffalo’s great theatrical stages, Saturday, June 13 is a good reason to start. Dance Spectrum’s 47th annual recital — Do You Wanna Dance — brings the Recreational & Adult Showcase to Shea’s Performing Arts Center at 2:00 PM, and this is the kind of afternoon that reminds you why live performance matters at every level.
About Dance Spectrum
Dance Spectrum has been teaching Western New York to move since September 1979, when the studio opened as a small storefront on Main Street in Depew. Nearly five decades later, it offers more than 125 weekly classes spanning ballet, pointe, lyrical, tap, jazz, hip hop, and acrobatics — serving communities across Lancaster, Depew, West Seneca, Orchard Park, Elma, Williamsville, Amherst, and beyond.
The 2026 recital runs three separate showcases across the day: the Children’s Showcase at 10:00 AM, the Recreational & Adult Showcase at 2:00 PM, and the Competitive Showcase at 6:00 PM. Every show closes with the signature group finale that gives the recital its name — a full-company number with every dancer on the Shea’s stage at once.
The Venue
Shea’s Performing Arts Center, at 650 Main Street in Buffalo, is one of the signature rooms in the region — 3,019 seats and a stage that gives any performance room to breathe. The theater lobby opens one hour before curtain and the house opens 30 minutes before the 2:00 PM start, so plan to arrive with time to settle in. Walk-through security screening is in effect for all patrons. The Shea’s box office opens two hours prior to showtime; reach them at 716-847-0850 with any questions.
