Exhorder. At Empire Underground. If that sentence doesn’t immediately make you want to clear your Saturday, you might not know who Exhorder is — and that’s something we need to fix right now. This is one of the most important bands in the history of groove metal, and they’re playing a 500-cap room in Albany. This is going to be violent in the best possible way.
About Exhorder
Exhorder is a New Orleans groove metal band that’s been shaping the sound of heavy music since the late ’80s. They were doing the groove thing before groove metal even had a name — massive riffs, punishing rhythms, and vocals that sound like they’re being ripped out of the earth. Their influence on the genre is enormous, and seeing them in a room this size is the kind of opportunity that doesn’t come around often. This is a band that belongs in a sweaty basement, not an arena, and Empire Underground is going to deliver exactly that experience. The intensity of their live performance has only grown over the decades — this is a band that’s been playing together long enough to operate as a single unit, reading each other’s movements and locking into grooves that feel like a force of nature. Catching them in 2026 is catching a band at the peak of their powers, with decades of road-tested chemistry behind every riff.
The Venue
Empire Underground was basically built for shows like this. Five hundred people packed into a low-ceilinged underground room with a band that plays like they’re trying to shake the building apart? That’s the dream. The sound system handles heavy music beautifully — every riff hits you in the chest, and the bass rattles your teeth. For metal, hardcore, and anything loud, this is the room in Albany.

If you care about heavy music at all, this is a must-see. Exhorder in a room this size is going to be absolutely crushing. These are the kinds of shows that become stories — the ones where you tell people “I was there” and they’re jealous they weren’t. Don’t sleep on this one. Get your ticket, get down those stairs early, and prepare to get leveled. Albany doesn’t get shows like this every week. When groove metal legends come to town and play a room this raw, you show up. Period.
