Gov’t Mule has spent the better part of three decades building a reputation on the live circuit that their studio discography can only partially explain. The Kicking In Your Stall Tour arrives at Artpark‘s outdoor amphitheater in Lewiston on Thursday, August 6, 2026, running 6:30 to 11:00 PM. JJ Grey & Mofro opens — a pairing worth noting, since most dates on this summer’s run co-headline with Joe Bonamassa. Lewiston gets something different, and arguably more cohesive.
About Gov’t Mule
The band traces its origins to 1994, when Warren Haynes and the late bassist Allen Woody stepped sideways from the Allman Brothers Band on what they described as a one-record, one-tour experiment. It became Gov’t Mule. Thirty-plus years and twelve studio albums later, the current lineup — Haynes on guitar and vocals, co-founding drummer Matt Abts, Danny Louis on keyboards and guitar, and bassist Kevin Scott — remains one of the more durably active working units in American rock.
Peace…Like A River, their 2023 release on Fantasy Records, is the album this tour supports. The twelfth studio album follows the Grammy-nominated Heavy Load Blues and features contributions from Billy F Gibbons and Billy Bob Thornton — a range that the record itself earns. The catalog is deep enough at this point that the set list question is worth showing up to answer.
About JJ Grey & Mofro
JJ Grey’s Olustee — his tenth album and the first he produced himself — arrived after a nine-year gap in studio output. Grey’s music occupies the intersection of swamp funk, Southern soul, and plainspoken rock, delivered in a gritty baritone that critics have accurately described as honest for over two decades. He has played Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits, and has shared stages with B.B. King and the Allman Brothers Band. He is a seasoned opener who doesn’t play like one.
Venue: Artpark, Lewiston
Artpark is a 10,000-capacity outdoor amphitheater in Lewiston, New York, operated as a nonprofit under a cooperative agreement with the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. The venue sits along the Niagara River corridor and has established itself as the premier outdoor music destination in Buffalo / Western NY — a setting that earns that title on geography as much as programming.
