Mumford & Sons at Empower FCU Amphitheater | June 18, 2026

Thirteen years is a long time to stay away from a market. Mumford & Sons’ appearance at Empower FCU Amphitheater on Thursday, June 18, 2026 — their first confirmed Syracuse-area performance in roughly that span — carries the weight of a deliberate absence and the momentum of one of the band’s most prolific creative stretches in years. This is the Prizefighter Tour, and they are not arriving quietly.

About Mumford & Sons

The London quartet formed in 2007 and spent the early part of the decade that followed becoming something genuinely unusual: a folk-rock band that filled arenas on the strength of acoustic instruments and vocal arrangements that could rattle the back row. Babel won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2013, and the subsequent years brought experimentation, extended hiatuses, and the occasional critical reassessment. Their 2025 album RUSHMERE reached number one. Less than a year later, they followed it with Prizefighter, released in February 2026 on Island Records — a pace that suggests a band that has found something worth saying and is in a hurry to say it.

Prizefighter was produced by Aaron Dessner — whose work with The National made Long Pond Studio, his upstate New York recording space, something of a touchstone for a certain strain of carefully constructed rock — and the sessions yielded a 14-track record written and completed in ten days. The collaborator list is notable: Hozier appears on “Rubber Band Man,” Chris Stapleton on “Here,” with Gracie Abrams and Gigi Perez rounding out a guest roster that reads more like a curatorial statement than a commercial play. NPR Music called it “pretty wonderful… this music is very evolved and intricate and exquisitely produced and performed.” The Prizefighter Tour runs June through October 2026 across more than 28 cities, with stops at Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, Madison Square Garden, and Folsom Field among the marquee dates. The Syracuse engagement is an amphitheater night in the heart of the run — not a stadium show, but not a soft market either.

The Venue

Empower Federal Credit Union Amphitheater at Lakeview sits on the New York State Fairgrounds along the shores of Onondaga Lake. It holds up to 17,500 — a covered pavilion with reserved seating and a substantial GA lawn — and is consistently cited as one of the better-sounding outdoor facilities in Central New York. The combination of a proper roof over the pavilion seats and open sky above the lawn gives it a flexibility that suits a band whose catalog ranges from quiet acoustic passages to full-band crescendos. For a tour of this scale, it is the appropriate room.
