About Yonder Mountain String Band
Yonder Mountain has been doing this since 1998. Twenty-five-plus years of touring has a way of sharpening a band’s instincts, and YMSB has never stopped growing. They started in the Colorado bluegrass scene and carved out a lane that’s genuinely their own: traditional acoustic instruments — banjo, mandolin, upright bass, guitar — played with the looseness and extended improvisation you’d expect from a jam band. Traditional structure, exploratory energy.
The new 2026 album gives this tour a purpose beyond the nostalgia circuit. They’re not running the greatest-hits victory lap. The Paramount Theatre in Rutland is a beautifully restored 1914 movie palace that seats around 600. It’s the kind of room where Yonder Mountain’s sound will fill the space — all that acoustic instrumentation in old plaster walls is exactly what you’d want. Rutland sits in the upper Vermont corridor that Upstate Concerts covers as part of the North Country region, and it’s a reasonable drive from Glens Falls, Plattsburgh, or the Adirondacks.
