Before & After the Show

Lake Placid’s Main Street is a destination in itself — restaurants, breweries, and shops in a classic mountain town setting. Saranac Lake has a growing food scene centered on Broadway. Plattsburgh’s downtown has been revitalizing with new restaurants and craft beverage spots along the Lake Champlain waterfront.

Getting Around

I-87 (Northway) is the main route from Albany to the Adirondacks and Plattsburgh. Route 3 connects Watertown to the Adirondack interior. Distances are real up here — Lake Placid to Watertown is nearly 2 hours. No public transit outside Plattsburgh; you need a car.

Best Time to Visit

Summer (June–September) is prime season. Most outdoor venues and festivals only operate during this window. Fall foliage in the Adirondacks (late September–mid October) is legendary and often coincides with end-of-season shows. Winter is quiet for concerts but spectacular for skiing.

Getting Here

By car: I-87 (Northway) from Albany to Lake Placid (2.5 hrs) or Plattsburgh (3 hrs). I-81 to Watertown from Syracuse (1.5 hrs).

By air: Adirondack Regional Airport (SLK) near Saranac Lake. Plattsburgh International (PBG) has budget carriers.

Parking: Free at most North Country venues. Lake Placid can be tight in peak summer — use the municipal lot on Main Street.
