Bianca Del Rio is the rare comedian who has sold out both Wembley Arena and Carnegie Hall — and on May 27, she brings the IT GETS BITTER world comedy tour to Burlington’s Flynn Center for the Performing Arts. Thirty years into her career, Del Rio says the old motto has it backward: after this long in drag, it doesn’t get better. It gets bitter.
About the Show
IT GETS BITTER is Del Rio’s seventh world stand-up comedy tour, billed as a celebration of thirty years in professional drag. The material covers pop culture, world events, and what Del Rio describes as modern life’s annoyances. She arrived at this tour with plenty to say. “There’s a lot going on in the world today, and I have a lot to say about it,” she said in announcing the tour. “I’m looking forward to finally getting back on the road and venting to anyone who will listen.” A fair warning from the tour’s own marketing: the front row is not for the easily offended.
Del Rio won RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 6 in 2014. The New York Times has called her “the Joan Rivers of the drag world.” In 2019, she became the first drag queen to headline and sell out both Carnegie Hall and Wembley Arena. She has since starred in the West End production of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, made her New York stage debut Off-Broadway in Tartuffe in 2025, and appeared in two Hurricane Bianca films. Her previous tour, Dead Inside, sold out across 26 countries. She is also set to appear on Season 5 of The Traitors in 2027, her first reality TV appearance in over a decade.
The Burlington stop falls early in her northeastern swing, before Boston on May 29 and New York City on June 3. No support act has been announced for the Flynn date.
