The Spin Doctors formed in New York City in 1988, spent three years building an audience the hard way, then released Pocket Full of Kryptonite in 1991 — an album that went 5× Platinum and made “Two Princes” and “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong” two of the most-recognized songs of that decade. Thirty-five years on, they’re doing what the occasion calls for: performing the record front to back, every track in sequence, on a full North American tour.
About the Show
The Pocket Full of Kryptonite 35th Anniversary Tour runs February 18 through March 20, 2027. The Rutland date is March 6, falling the day after the band’s stop at Irving Plaza in New York City, a routing that places this Vermont booking in a different tier of company than its geography might suggest. At the Paramount, the Spin Doctors will perform the debut album in full and in sequence, followed by catalog selections spanning four decades.
Worth recalling what that debut accomplished: Pocket Full of Kryptonite reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 10 million copies worldwide. “Two Princes” hit No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 and held the No. 1 spot on Rock radio for 1993; the band received a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. “Little Miss Can’t Be Wrong” reached No. 17 on the Hot 100. The full-album format respects an audience that already knows where every break falls.
They’ve also been working forward. Face Full of Cake (April 2025), their Capitol Records debut and first album in 12 years, drew notices from Rolling Stone (“genuinely surprising and fun”) and the Associated Press (“three decades later, their cheeky spirit endures”). The current lineup is Chris Barron (vocals), Aaron Comess (drums), Eric Schenkman (guitar), and Jack Daley (bass, full-time since 2021). “We all truly enjoy playing this collection of songs together after all these years,” Comess said in announcing the tour.
Venue & Logistics
The Paramount Theatre is a historic theater in downtown Rutland, Vermont, part of the north-country touring corridor that stretches across Vermont and upstate New York. At 838 seats, it is a room where the stage stays close enough that the band’s natural funk registers before the PA has to do much work. Doors open at 6:00 p.m., seating at 6:30 p.m., show at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6.
