Shea’s Performing Arts Center is worth the trip to Buffalo on its own. On Friday, November 6, it hosts The Basement Yard for the first night of a just-added two-night Buffalo run, part of their From the Basement to the World Tour. If you know the podcast, you already know you need to be there.
About The Basement Yard
Joe Santagato and Frank Alvarez grew up on the same block in Queens — lifelong friends whose chemistry reads instantly on stage. Santagato started The Basement Yard in 2015 in his mother’s basement, building a following on YouTube, Spotify, and Patreon. In 2022, an episode debating Pop-Tart flavors went viral and landed them on Good Morning America — and the show has been one of the top 10 comedy podcasts in the country ever since. Alvarez joined officially in 2020.
The live show runs 90 to 120 minutes, built around segments like “Gross or Genius,” “Questions That Nobody Asked,” and “If You Laugh, You Lose” — plus storytelling, improv, and real crowd participation. The promotional note is genuine: if you’re shy, sit in the back. You might end up on stage. This is their second From the Basement to the World tour, and the show has grown to fill rooms like Shea’s.
Santagato has partnered with PLUS1 for this run, with $1 from every ticket benefiting The Happy Cry Fund, an organization focused on community strengthening and crisis support.
Venue: Shea’s Performing Arts Center
Shea’s Performing Arts Center is at 650 Main Street in downtown Buffalo — a 3,019-seat performing arts center that gives any show a serious setting. The box office opens two hours before showtime, the lobby opens an hour out, and mobile tickets run through the My Shea’s App. There’s metal detection at entry, so if you’re driving in from elsewhere in Western New York, build a few extra minutes between your parking spot and the door. An 8:00 PM start means 7:30 arrival is comfortable.
Tickets & Pricing
Entry-level tickets start around $50, with mid-range seats in the $100–$150 range and premium options up to $200–$300. VIP packages include meet-and-greet access, a Q&A with Santagato and Alvarez, and exclusive merchandise. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster.
