Geoff Tate at Riviera Theatre | November 4, 2026

By Rachel Torrey · July 16, 2026

Geoff Tate spent the early months of 2026 answering the question progressive metal fans have been running in the back of their heads for years: does the voice on Operation: Mindcrime still hold at full power? At the Parker in Fort Lauderdale in January, reviewers described his delivery as “commanding, expressive, and effortlessly precise” from the opening notes. The crowd in North Tonawanda gets their turn on November 4 at the Riviera Theatre. This is the last time any of them will get to ask.

About the Show

The “Operation: Mindcrime – The Final Chapter” tour does exactly what the name says. Tate performs the landmark 1988 concept album straight through, start to finish, and has billed this as the final time he will ever stage the complete album live. The tour started in March 2025; the fall 2026 stretch is the closing leg.

The album is certified platinum and drew comparisons to Pink Floyd’s The Wall and The Who’s Tommy at release. It follows Nikki, a disillusioned recovering addict recruited as a political assassin by the revolutionary Dr. X. The production fits the weight of the material: a full string ensemble, an epic laser light show, and a three-guitar lineup of James Brown, Dario Parente, and Kieran Robertson working through the album’s layered arrangements. On earlier tour stops, Clodagh McCarthy provided guest vocals during “Suite Sister Mary.” Tate has also been inviting fans onstage during “Silent Lucidity.”

Reviewers from the January leg described the night as “less like a standard concert and more like a closing chapter.” That framing is accurate. Tate fronted Queensrÿche for more than 30 years — a run during which the band sold over 20 million albums worldwide, performed across more than 50 countries, and earned four Grammy nominations. “Silent Lucidity” reached No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Mainstream Rock chart. Empire sold over 3 million copies. A 2012 legal settlement granted Tate exclusive rights to perform the Operation: Mindcrime material. Earlier dates on this tour have also featured a second set of Empire and Rage for Order material after the album closes, with “Queen of the Reich” in the encore.
