Austin Meade grew up in small-town Texas, the son of a Baptist preacher who took him to see AC/DC, Journey, and Judas Priest — which turns out to be the most useful upbringing possible for a guitarist committed to writing rock songs that don’t fit cleanly on a format chart. His sound lands somewhere between red dirt, grunge, nostalgia, and vintage rock, with a Southern voice that doesn’t bother choosing between country and alternative. Six albums in and logging over 300 shows a year, Meade brings that catalog to Buffalo Iron Works on Wednesday, October 14, as part of a 27-date fall run stretching through late November.
About the Show
Meade is touring behind Almost Famous (2024), his sixth studio album, recorded partly in a Nashville garage and partly in his Texas bedroom studio. The record moves across nostalgia, identity, love, and humor: “Honey Do Ya” is a love song for his wife; “Like Father Like Son” reflects generational family bonds; the title track is a “loud, loose anthem that humorously skews the music industry.” His Top 25 single “BLACKOUT,” from the preceding Pretty Little Waist EP (2024), helped grow his audience ahead of Almost Famous; his current single is “Slim Pickins,” featuring Treaty Oak Revival. “Happier Alone,” from Black Sheep (2021), remains a catalog anchor and the song that introduced many listeners to Meade’s brand of confessional, outsider-focused rock.
Meade’s discography, stretching back to Chief of the Sinners in 2014, traces an artist who has spent over a decade refining a sound that draws from classic rock, Americana, and Southern alternative without fully belonging to any of them. The 2026 fall run, stretching from September 13 through November 28 across 24 cities, is exactly the kind of sustained road commitment that has defined his career. He has shared stages with Sevendust and Treaty Oak Revival, and his own framing of his creative priorities is as direct as his songwriting: “I don’t have time for anybody’s bullshit anymore. If I’m not 100% in on something, I move on.” No support acts are listed for the Buffalo date.
