Charles Wesley Godwin at Landmark Theatre | September 17, 2026

By Meg Andersen · May 21, 2026

Here is the thing about the Landmark Theatre: a 2,908-seat theater on South Salina Street in downtown Syracuse is exactly the kind of room where a touring singer-songwriter gets to find out how far his audience has followed him. When Charles Wesley Godwin rolls into Syracuse on Thursday, September 17 for a standalone headline night on The Christian Name Tour, that question gets answered.

About Charles Wesley Godwin

Godwin is the West Virginian who built his following the slow way — three albums of Appalachian-rooted country and Americana, starting with Seneca in 2019. The Morgantown native and West Virginia University graduate has a sound rooted in faith, place, and personal reckoning. His fourth album, Christian Name, arrives July 24 on Big Loud Records, and it is by every account his most personal work yet.

The backstory is inseparable from the music. In 2024, Godwin and his wife Samantha lost their third child, Samuel, to a stillbirth. Instead of going quiet, he leaned into his faith and made the album he had to make. Christian Name explores mourning, redemption, and what Godwin calls “God as a healer.” The album title and cover were inspired by his late grandfather, Charles Godwin, a Methodist preacher. These songs carry real weight.

The lead single “Better That Way” features Luke Combs and is streaming now. “Hey There, Son” features Wyatt Flores. Producer Al Torrence — Godwin’s longtime collaborator — helmed sessions across studios in Pennsylvania, Nashville, and New York City. By the time he reaches Syracuse in September, Christian Name will have been out nearly two months. His crowd will know the words.
