David Byrne does not coast on the Talking Heads catalog, and that is exactly why the Who Is the Sky? tour is worth a Thursday-night drive to Saratoga. The show pulls “Once in a Lifetime,” “Burning Down the House,” “This Must Be the Place,” and “Psycho Killer” out of the vault, then threads them through new material and a 13-piece ensemble that never stops moving. SPAC catches it on September 17, 2026 — the second-to-last stop on the entire global run before the tour closes out at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens two nights later.

Byrne released Who Is the Sky? on September 5, 2025 — his first solo album since 2018’s American Utopia. The Matador Records LP was produced by Kid Harpoon with arrangements by the New York chamber outfit Ghost Train Orchestra, and the guest list (St. Vincent, Paramore’s Hayley Williams) points forward rather than back. The Oscar, Grammy, and Tony winner has never been the nostalgia type, and this record keeps that streak intact.
Live, the production carries the theatrical DNA of American Utopia into the new songs. Thirteen musicians, singers, and dancers work the stage as a single mobile unit — everyone wireless, everyone free to roam — under costumes by Belgian artist Tom Van Der Borght and visuals from Shira Inbar. If you saw the last tour, you know how good this format gets when it clicks.

The Saratoga Performing Arts Center opened in July 1966 inside Saratoga Spa State Park, and it remains one of the best outdoor rooms in the Capital Region. The amphitheater seats roughly 5,100, with another 20,000 on the lawn — and the lawn here is part of the appeal, not the consolation prize. The park setting, mineral springs and pine all around, makes a case for showing up early. SPAC sits about 30 minutes north of Albany via I-87.
