Mark Winters at Mohawk Place | October 15, 2026

By Meg Andersen · August 27, 2026

Mark Winters spent his career calculating how objects move through air: the physics of lift, the engineering of thrust. Then he picked up a guitar for his wedding anniversary and discovered what he was actually supposed to be doing. The Good Vibes Highway Tour, 107 dates into a cross-continental run, makes its first-ever stop in Buffalo on Thursday, October 15 at Mohawk Place.

About the Show

Winters holds a degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, and Astronautical Engineering and worked as a rocket scientist before walking away for music. The pivot started at home: in 2011, he taught himself guitar in three months to play an anniversary song for his wife, needing his daughter’s help making a card with the lyrics and chords. Cover bands came next. By 2018, feeling “inauthentic” playing only other people’s material, he began writing originals and teaching himself music theory and recording through online courses.

His catalog now spans four albums: Slipstream (2019), Boundary Layer, E=mc2, and a fourth expected later in 2026, all released through Bernoulli Records, his own independent label. He cites John Mayer, Tom Petty, and Jason Mraz as touchstones and calls his sound “Acoustic Rock With A Positive Vibe.” The titles aren’t incidental: Slipstream and Boundary Layer draw from fluid dynamics, the same discipline he spent years studying. As he told Yahoo Entertainment, “My poetry mind and my science mind are both kind of competing for time, so a lot of my songs have layers, where they have both a poetic meaning and a scientific meaning.” The Waco Tribune put it more simply: “not many songwriters have aerospace engineering and haiku poetry in their backgrounds.” He manages writing, booking, and touring himself, and the Songkick listing notes this is his first time performing in Buffalo.
