Here is the thing about a 6 PM doors show on a Tuesday in October: Weedeater is not messing around. Get to Montage Music Hall early — this four-act bill is stacked and it is going to move fast.
About Weedeater
Weedeater came out of Wilmington, North Carolina around 1998, assembled by bassist and vocalist Dixie Dave Collins and guitarist Shep after the dissolution of sludge act Buzzov•en. What they built defies easy categorization — part Southern rock, part doom, part crushing sludge, entirely its own thing. They call it weed metal. The description fits.
The current trio — Dixie Dave, Shep, and drummer Ramzi Ateyeh — has five studio albums to their name on Season of Mist, from their 2001 debut through Goliathan in 2015. They have shared stages with Melvins, Napalm Death, and Corrosion of Conformity, and they have stayed active through 2025 and 2026 with a consistent tour schedule. Weedeater has logged well over a thousand documented live performances. The live reputation is the whole point — this is a band you understand better in a room than through a record.
The Venue
Montage Music Hall is a 400-capacity club at 50 Chestnut St in Rochester. That size is right for a show like this — intimate enough that the volume hits the way it is supposed to. Rochester’s western NY live music scene has a genuine reputation for heavy music, and Montage is part of why. This is the right room for Weedeater.
Supporting Acts
Three openers round out the bill: Zeke, Royal Thunder, and Yes Ma’am. Budget the full evening.
