Lords of Acid has spent eight years between studio albums, and the group’s Belgian-born founder Praga Khan wasn’t coy about where things stand: “For the first time in eight years, there is truly new material. A new album is coming.” That album is Acid Reign, their seventh full-length, arriving in 2026. The Cheeky Freaky Tour Part Two carries it out for a 15-date fall run, with a stop at Photo City Music Hall in Rochester on Saturday, October 17.
About the Show
The Belgian-American group has run on acid house, techno, and industrial dance since Praga Khan launched the project in Antwerp in 1988 alongside Olivier Adams and Nikkie Van Lierop. Early tracks like “I Sit on Acid” (1989) built their reputation on explicit themes, relentless grooves, and live shows built around boundary-pushing visuals, and three decades on, the formula hasn’t changed. What changed in 2025 was the vocal chair: Carla Harvey, also of The Violent Hour and formerly of Butcher Babies, stepped into the band’s “Acid Queen” role and sings on Acid Reign. The record is the group’s first full-length since Pretty in Kink (2018) and features guest appearances from Princess Superstar and Tony & The Kiki. Both are also on this tour as support, along with MZ Neon — making the Rochester bill more cohesive than the average headliner show. Part Two follows what the band’s site calls “a wildly successful first leg” that opened at Sick New World in Las Vegas in April and ran through major US markets.
Venue & Logistics
Photo City Music Hall is a 400-capacity club at 543 Atlantic Ave in Rochester, a room considerably more intimate than where a band with three-plus decades of history typically lands. In a venue this size, Lords of Acid’s full production hits differently than at a festival stage. The band’s own summary of the tour: “pounding beats, outrageous visuals, unapologetic attitude.” Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Ages 16 and up.
