Jonah Smith is the kind of songwriter Bonnie Raitt reaches for: his “When We Say Goodnight” landed on her Grammy-nominated album Just Like That…, which is both a career credential and an accurate preview of what a Smith show delivers — rooted, warm soul music built for a room where you can hear every note settle. On Saturday, October 10, he brings that sound to The Falcon in Marlboro for one of only two stops on his fall 2026 schedule.
About the Show
Smith’s current release is Satisfied, out in 2026 and recorded live to tape in Los Angeles with the band Family Company. The album grew from a January 2018 Bill Withers tribute concert in Hollywood (Withers himself attended), and that spirit carries through the record’s Memphis soul arrangements and horn-driven grooves. The full album runs 10 tracks and 38 minutes, with contributions from guitarist Eric Krasno, Adam Levy, Al Street, Jon Sosin, and Andy Stack.
His catalog stretches back seven albums, and the press has been consistent throughout. The Wall Street Journal heard “J.J. Cale, early Van Morrison.” Critic Anthony DeCurtis called his voice “smoother than a spoonful of Tupelo honey.” His live history spans Bonnaroo, SXSW, the Madrid Jazz Festival, and Ronnie Scott’s in London; he has opened for Los Lobos, Little Feat, and Taj Mahal. He has also played Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble in Woodstock twice, which for a Hudson Valley show tells you something about where he sits in the American music lineage.
Venue & Logistics
The Falcon holds 150 people and sits on Route 9W in Marlboro, a jazz and blues club in the Hudson Valley with acoustics that suit Smith’s style considerably better than any festival stage would. The New York Times put it plainly: his songs are “equally well suited to downtown lounges and rural front porches.” A performer with this catalog in a room this size is worth planning around.
