If you have been to Empire Live before, you already know the room. If you have not — a Friday night in mid-October is as good a reason as any to make the trip to downtown Albany.
Concert Crave’s I Love R&B Party returns to Empire Live on Friday, October 16 with doors at 8:30 PM. This is at least the fourth time the touring series has come through this specific room, which tells you something: people keep showing up, and Concert Crave keeps bringing it back.
What to expect: no headliner, no opener. What you get is DJs and MCs running a full-night set built entirely around R&B — 90s throwbacks through early 2000s favorites and whatever is landing right now. The format is a party, not a concert. Packed dance floor, sing-along anthems, the kind of night where you realize you know every word to more songs than you thought. Come with a crew or pull up solo — the series is designed for both, and it shows.
About the venue: Empire Live sits at 93 N. Pearl Street in the heart of downtown Albany, one block from the Palace Theatre. The upstairs room holds up to 1,000 in general admission, with a modern stage that gives you clear sightlines from just about anywhere on the floor and two hospitality stations so the bar line does not eat your night. The venue opened in fall 2021 in the former Capitol Repertory Theater space and has become Albany’s anchor for mid-size live events — the sound is solid, the layout is flexible, and the team running it has been doing this a long time.
Know before you go: This is a 21+ event — valid government-issued photo ID required, no exceptions. Doors open at 8:30 PM; show starts at 9:00 PM. The Albany date slots into a tight Northeast run: Rochester on September 19, then Albany October 16, Hartford October 23, and Asbury Park October 24. By the time this tour hits the Capital District it will be deep in its stride.
