The ground at Bethel Woods has absorbed a particular kind of sound for decades — the kind that travels upward into the Sullivan County sky and stays there. On Saturday, October 10, 2026, That Motown Band brings their Motown In Your Town tour to the 16,000-capacity outdoor amphitheater. Late October in the Hudson Valley, classic soul in a legendary setting. It is, as these things go, a reasonable proposition.

About That Motown Band

That Motown Band is a Long Island-based ensemble with genuine institutional credibility on the Northeast theater circuit. Their tagline — “The Best Of Motown…Live!” — does not oversell: a full-ensemble recreation of classic soul anchored by a vocal roster built on real professional pedigree rather than weekend-warrior ambition.

The anchor of that roster is Garfield Fleming, who spent 25 years as a member of The Delfonics alongside William Hart. Fleming’s voice carries the kind of authority that separates authentic soul performance from theatrical approximation. His 1981 solo single “Please Don’t Send Me Away” still circulates internationally, and his ability to move through the territory of David Ruffin and Bobby Womack within a single set is what separates a That Motown Band performance from standard tribute-act fare.

Musical Director Tom Schizzano — whose credits include collaborations with Hall & Oates, Cyndi Lauper, Lou Christie, and Paul Shaffer, plus broadcast work spanning CBS/Paramount, Disney, and NBC/Universal — gives the arrangements a technical foundation that holds. The vocal ensemble also includes Capitol Records recording artist Tanesha Gary and Broadway and television actress Rosalind Brown. The band has earned engagements at Town Hall and The Bitter End in New York City, among other national venues. The setlist pulls from the core canon: “Heat Wave,” “My Girl,” “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” “Baby Love.” In this company, those songs earn their keep.

About Bethel Woods Center for the Arts

Bethel Woods Center for the Arts occupies the historic grounds of the 1969 Woodstock festival — a legacy the venue carries without exploiting, having built a legitimate performing arts institution around it. The outdoor amphitheater holds 16,000 and sits in the Sullivan County hills in a setting that earns its reputation as a destination. The on-site campground operates through October, making an overnight stay practical for those making the trip from downstate or western New England. The Bethel Woods Museum is open through December 31.

This show is part of an October Northeast run that continues the following evening in Pittsfield, Massachusetts — positioning the Hudson Valley date as the anchor of the fall swing.
