Spandau Ballet had the songs, the looks, and the New Romantic moment, but it was Tony Hadley’s voice that made “True” and “Gold” feel like they would last. More than four decades on, he is still out making that case, and on Thursday, October 29, he brings the catalog to Paramount Hudson Valley in Peekskill.
About the Show
Hadley is recognized as the voice of one of the 1980s’ most successful pop acts. Born in Islington, North London in 1960, he won a youth singing competition in 1974 before joining what would become Spandau Ballet in 1979. Music, he has said, was the thing that redirected a rougher path as a teenager in East London. The group scored more than twenty UK chart hits across the decade.
Thursday’s show pulls from both catalogs. The Spandau Ballet portion includes “True,” “Gold,” “Only When You Leave,” “Through the Barricades,” “To Cut a Long Story Short,” and “I’ll Fly for You,” with additional material drawn from Hadley’s solo work. Since the band’s 1990 split, he has released six albums spanning pop, swing, and orchestral arrangements. His most recent, The Mood I’m In (2024), came out alongside his Big Swing Tour and leaned into jazz territory: a reimagined version of The Doors’ “Touch Me,” Sinatra and Bennett-style standards, and originals including the salsa-inflected “Walk of Shame.” Critics called it “an undeniably polished body of work” from an artist who remains “at the top of his game.”
The Peekskill date precedes Hadley’s Christmas Big Band Tour 2026, a 19-venue UK run in November and December following a sold-out 2025 run that featured jazz standards, swing classics, and reworked Spandau Ballet tracks with a full brass section. Hadley was awarded an MBE in 2019 for charitable services. No supporting acts have been announced.
Venue & Logistics
Paramount Hudson Valley sits at 1008 Brown Street in Peekskill, a 1,024-seat theater in the Hudson Valley about an hour north of midtown Manhattan. For an artist who spent his commercial peak filling much larger rooms, this is an intimate setting — the kind where a catalog this deep tends to feel like an event. Show time is 8:00 p.m. The venue prohibits outside food and beverages and does not allow backpacks or large bags; all guests go through bag check and security screening at entry.
