The Nth Power at The Falcon | October 30, 2026

By Tanya Reeves · August 28, 2026

Soul music at its best is testimony, and The Nth Power comes to it honestly: drummer Nikki Glaspie spent five years on the road with Beyoncé before she and guitarist Nick Cassarino and bassist Nate Edgar built a trio with the conviction that music doesn’t just entertain — it restores. They bring that conviction to The Falcon in Marlboro on Friday, October 30.

About the Show

The October 30 show supports Never Alone, the band’s fourth studio album, released May 1, 2026. The record came out of an unusual residency: Phish bassist Mike Gordon invited the trio to a Vermont farmhouse studio overlooking Lake Champlain, where they completed two weeklong sessions (one of them during a lunar eclipse). The result is an eight-track album centered, as Glaspie describes it, on “connection, compassion, shared experience,” with guest appearances from jazz trumpeter Nicholas Payton, saxophonist Skerik, vocalist Courtney Smith, and New Orleans brass collective The Soul Rebels.

The band’s origins are as rooted in that city as the guest list. The Nth Power formed from a late-night jam at New Orleans Jazz Fest, a city they still call their spiritual home, and each member carries real musical lineage. Glaspie came from Dumpstaphunk, Ivan Neville’s New Orleans funk outfit, after five years as a world-touring drummer with Beyoncé’s Suga Mamas. Cassarino has worked across jazz, soul, and hip-hop, including a stretch with Big Daddy Kane. Edgar spent years with John Brown’s Body. What they built together is described by the venue as “a transcendent blend of soul, funk, rock and rhythm and blues,” delivered through multi-part vocal harmonies and grooves that, in the words of one recent reviewer, “develop gradually rather than hitting all at once.” Recorded largely live in the room, the album is spare, consistent, and built to settle into.

The Falcon stop is part of a five-night East Coast run: Wayne, PA on October 28; Red Bank, NJ on October 29; Marlboro on October 30; New York City on October 31; Vienna, VA on November 1. The band also toured in support of Snarky Puppy on select dates earlier in 2026.
