Dev Lemons writes bedroom pop designed to feel like a late-night heart-to-heart — and on November 4 she brings that frequency to Funk ‘n Waffles in Syracuse as part of the 25-date Eat The Pavement Tour. By showtime, her sophomore album hunting what we already killed will have been out for about a month, and she’s been direct about her intentions: “I am so excited to play the new album for u guys.”
About the Show
The Pennsylvania-born singer-songwriter straddles alt-pop, bedroom pop, and emo, with Paramore, My Chemical Romance, and Bring Me The Horizon among her core influences. Her songwriting tackles abandonment, toxic relationships, and what she describes as “overcoming your demons and replacing them with the insulation of unhinged fun” — including, yes, the fear of going to the dentist. She’s developed an instinct for turning personal pain into hooks that land hardest when a room sings them back. Alongside her music, Lemons runs YouTube channels for music commentary and casual content, and has amassed millions of streams by treating her audience like they’re already in on the conversation.
hunting what we already killed drops October 2 via ONErpm, produced in full with collaborator Emmett Kai. Lead single “eat the pavement” has been out since late June and gives the tour its name. Lemons has promised to mix older material into the setlist alongside the new record — her note on the subject is characteristically direct: “my old stuff… I like my stuff.. it’s mine.” The tour spans October and November across North America, including stops in Atlanta, Nashville, Philadelphia, Brooklyn, Chicago, and Los Angeles, before landing in Syracuse. No support acts have been announced. The show is presented by After Dark Presents.
Venue & Logistics
Funk ‘n Waffles sits on South Clinton Street in downtown Syracuse: 200 capacity, bar and restaurant under one roof. It’s one of the better small rooms in central New York, and for an artist whose whole aesthetic is the late-night confessional, that size is a feature, not a limitation. Doors open at 7:00 p.m., show at 8:00 p.m. The event is 16-plus with valid ID; guests under 16 are admitted with a parent or legal guardian. E-tickets are emailed two days before the show.
