Empire Live sits at the corner of North Pearl and whatever is left of your Wednesday night. When All Them Witches roll through Albany on October 21 as part of their 21 Shows In 21 Days October tour, they will be one day out of Burlington and one day before Buffalo — a northeast stretch tucked into the center of a 21-date run from Chattanooga to Cincinnati. If you are going to catch them on this swing, Empire Live is the stop.
The Nashville quartet — Charles Michael Parks Jr. on bass and vocals, Ben McLeod on guitar, Allan Van Cleave on keys and violin, and drummer Christian Powers — has been building a following since 2012 with a sound AllMusic calls “mercurial, neo-psychedelic, dark blues- and classic rock-influenced.” The 2024 addition of Christian Powers on drums reportedly reignited the band’s creative spark, and the timing lines up well: their seventh studio album, House of Mirrors, drops May 29, 2026 via BMG.
Recorded at Blackbird Studio in Nashville in under a week and produced by Eddie Spear, House of Mirrors is built around what the band describes as “leaving home, facing expectations, and carving your own way into this world.” The current single “Starting Line” is out now. “The Welterweight” — a Parks-penned ballad inspired by his grandfather, a welterweight boxing champion in Alabama — is track nine, and McLeod has called it “our ballad.” By October, there will be a full record worth hearing live.
