There is something fitting about Edwin McCain’s only upstate New York date this year landing at a casino showroom: he built his career in rooms like this — close, attentive, crowds that know every word and came specifically for that reason. The Showroom at Turning Stone Resort Casino, Verona. Saturday, September 19. 8:00 PM.
About Edwin McCain
McCain’s currency in the late 1990s was a particular strain of melodic earnestness that radio programmers and television music supervisors found irresistible. “I’ll Be,” his 1998 single from Misguided Roses, peaked near the top of the Billboard Hot 100 and found a long second life through placement on Dawson’s Creek — the kind of cultural embedding that sustained his name well into the following decade. “I Could Not Ask for More,” from his 1999 follow-up Messenger, reached No. 3 on the Adult Contemporary chart and confirmed that the first hit was not accidental. What he built from those two songs was a touring career in the singer-songwriter tradition: emotionally direct, relentlessly road-tested.
The more interesting part of his recent story is Lucky, his 2025 album — his 11th studio record and first collection of entirely new material since Mercy Bound in 2011. Made in Nashville with producers Lee Brice and Jerrod Niemann and featuring guest vocal contributions from Matt Ramsey of Old Dominion and Rebecca Lynn Howard, the record draws from blues, soul, rock, and folk. By McCain’s own account, the sessions were genuinely joyous after years away from the studio. He spent much of 2025 touring as a special guest with Train across more than 30 North American dates, and the summer of 2026 has found him co-headlining with Five for Fighting. The Turning Stone booking is the lone September 2026 date visible on his current schedule — making it the most direct opportunity this fall for Central NY audiences to hear the new material alongside the catalog.
The Showroom at Turning Stone Resort Casino
The Showroom at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona is the primary entertainment room at a Central New York casino complex that has built a consistent live music program around legacy rock, country, and comedy acts. The room does what a good casino showroom should: reliable sightlines, an atrium bar that keeps things civilized, and state-of-the-art sound and lighting that make it work for a singer-songwriter as readily as a full band. Capacity runs to 5,000, and the venue offers full wheelchair accessibility with ramp access throughout.
