Samantha Fish switched from drums to guitar at 15, cold-called Kansas City bars for gigs, and spent her teens sneaking into Knuckleheads Saloon to catch touring musicians. The Paper Doll Live World Tour — which spans North America, the U.K., Europe, Australia, and Japan — represents what that kind of early obsession eventually builds: a second Grammy nomination, a stage with the Rolling Stones, and a personal invitation from Eric Clapton to perform on his Crossroads Tour. The tour stops at The Showroom at Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona on Saturday, November 14.
About the Show
Paper Doll (2024) is Fish’s ninth studio album and the first she recorded with her touring band, tracked at The Orb in Austin and Savannah Studios in Los Angeles. The record moves across blues, rock, country, and soul, drawing on the range of artists Fish has named as influences: Prince, Leonard Cohen, Black Sabbath, and Delta blues figures like Junior Kimbrough and R.L. Burnside. She’s described the process as finally committing fully: “I took everything I had, and slammed it right on the table.” The album earned her a second Grammy nomination, in the Best Contemporary Blues Album category. A companion live document, Paper Doll Live at the Bijou, preceded this touring run.
The Turning Stone engagement falls the night before a Brooklyn Bowl show on November 15, making it the first stop on Fish’s New York run. No support act has been announced for this date.
Fish performs over 250 shows annually and has built a live reputation to match. She opened for the Rolling Stones on their final 2024 U.S. tour date, has shared stages with Buddy Guy, and was personally invited by Clapton for his Crossroads Tour. Turning Stone’s own event listing describes her as a player whose “fiery guitar work moves effortlessly through Delta blues, rock, country and soul” and who “transforms every song into something bigger live.”
