Murphy’s Law at The Song & Dance | September 28, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · September 5, 2026

Forty-four years into a career that started in Astoria, Queens, Murphy’s Law is moving with more forward momentum than most hardcore bands half their age. The band released “Go, Jimmy, Go!” in October 2025, their first new single in nearly 24 years, and as of a May 2026 interview, frontman Jimmy Gestapo was stating plainly that they had almost two albums worth of material recorded. That is the context for this Monday, September 28 date at The Song & Dance in Syracuse: not a legacy act coasting on catalog, but a band that has actually returned to the work.

About the Show

Murphy’s Law emerged from New York City’s hardcore scene in 1982, described on their own site as an influential American hardcore punk band. Gestapo, born Jimmy Drescher, is the sole remaining founding member, fronting a lineup that over the decades has included musicians who have performed with Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags, Danzig, The Bouncing Souls, and Joan Jett, among others. The new material arrives on Trust Records, which is also re-releasing the band’s complete back catalog, from the 1986 self-titled debut through 2001’s The Party’s Over, the album that preceded a recording silence of nearly a quarter century. The return to recording has been active: a split single with Agnostic Front titled “New York Blood” in October 2024, a cover of “Stay Clean” for the Motörhead tribute album Killed By Deaf (released Halloween 2025), and now touring that has moved across two continents in 2026. That itinerary includes the “Bad Boys For Life Tour” European leg with The Bones and The Drowns, Revolution Calling festival appearances in Eindhoven, and a Riot Fest slot in Chicago on September 20, eight days before this show. No support acts are listed for the Syracuse date.

Venue & Logistics

The Song & Dance is a live music room at 115 E. Jefferson Street in downtown Syracuse, presented by After Dark. The venue’s programming spans rock concerts, dance parties, and themed nights. This date carries age restrictions: 16-plus, with those under 16 admitted alongside a parent or legal guardian, and no one under 12. Seeing Murphy’s Law here, eight days after Riot Fest, is its own kind of argument for showing up. Doors at 6:30 p.m., show at 7:30 p.m. See all Central New York concerts.
