If you came up on pop-punk in the 2010s, there is a good chance Unfamiliar soundtracked at least one rough stretch of it. In Her Own Words released that album in 2016, and a decade later, the Los Angeles duo is coming back to play it in full — every track, front to back — on the Perfectly Unfamiliar Tour. Albany gets that show on Sunday, November 1 at Empire Underground, with Every Avenue co-headlining and Public Works opening. Showtime is 7:30 PM.
About In Her Own Words
Joey Fleming and Andretti Almalel have spent the better part of a decade building one of the more quietly devoted followings in modern pop-punk. Their sound sits at the intersection of raw emotional writing and hook-heavy arrangements that make a set feel like a sing-along from the first chorus. Unfamiliar is the album Fleming describes as being made by “a bunch of kids trying to process anxiety, heartbreak, growing pains, and everything in between” — and if you heard it when it came out, you know exactly how well it held up. Signed to Thriller Records, the band also has a new full-length album expected in 2026.
About Every Avenue
Co-headlining is Every Avenue, the Marysville, Michigan pop-punk outfit formed in 2003. Their 2011 album Bad Habits peaked at No. 63 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 300,000 copies worldwide. If you know them from the Warped Tour circuit or their runs alongside Mayday Parade and All Time Low, this bill is going to feel like rediscovering a playlist you thought you’d lost.

Empire Underground is at 93 N Pearl St in downtown Albany — a 500-capacity club in the heart of the Capital District, and an all-ages room, which means everyone who grew up on this music can be there. For venue details and upcoming shows, visit the Empire Underground website.
