NCM do not ease you in. Pete Crotty’s New Paltz three-piece, described as carrying “the energy and reckless abandon of a train on the verge of jumping the track,” tops a stacked punk bill at Colony Woodstock on Thursday, December 3.
About the Show
The show is the latest in the bimonthly Punk Night series at Colony Woodstock, co-presented by DCxPC Live and Dropout Productions. The series pairs touring bands with Hudson Valley-connected artists for all-ages shows, with DCxPC Live describing the mission as “rooted in community, collaboration, and a love of independent music.”
NCM is built around Crotty’s songwriting: vocals and guitar alongside Justin on drums and Lara Hope on bass and backing vocals. The New Paltz three-piece blends old-school punk with driving rhythms and folk elements, describing their approach as “aggressive, melodic, eccentric, eclectic” and their work as “raw but beautiful energy.” They describe themselves as striving to “revolutionize in a subtle fashion.” Their latest single, “4you,” landed in June 2026.
Modern Natives is an Alaska-Florida duo signed to Poison Paradise Records, currently based in New York ahead of a touring run. They work in punk, alternative rock, and pop, anchored by melodic bass and what their Bandcamp calls “audacious guitar.” The band has billed itself as “an explosive crossover — proof that punk isn’t dead.” Their catalog includes the Gut Feeling EP and the single “(please don’t) Kill The President.”
Kingston’s King in Yellow closes the night. Kyle McDonough and Nick Vining call their sound “Heavy Jangle”: psychedelic rock, post-punk, and gothic rock, drawing comparisons to The Birthday Party, PIL, and The Jesus Lizard. Post-punk.com describes them as coming “from the rust-cracked outskirts of Kingston, NY… like a fever dream gone grey: monochromatic, maudlin, magnificent” — “rock and roll warped by reflection, soaked in sorrow, then throttled with reverb.” Their forthcoming EP, All Is Loneliness, is previewed by the single “Dream Weapon,” which the band says addresses “delusion; the feeling that the world you inhabit is meaningless.” They played DIY Kingston fest in November and have toured outside the region, including a stop at Cactus Club in Milwaukee.
