The Amity Affliction – House of Cards 2026 at Sherman Theater | November 6, 2026

By Rachel Torrey · July 27, 2026

The Amity Affliction make metalcore that earns its breakdowns. The Australian band, out of Gympie, Queensland and active since 2002, built a catalog on songs where the lyrics are confessional first and heavy second; when the words underneath the riffs mean something, the breakdowns land differently. Albums including Let the Ocean Take Me (2014), Everyone Loves You… Once You Leave Them (2020), and Not Without My Ghosts (2023) topped Australian charts and drew ARIA nominations. House of Cards, their ninth studio album, goes somewhere rawer than any of them.

Written in the aftermath of vocalist Joel Birch’s mother’s death in 2024, produced by guitarist Dan Brown, and released April 24 through Pure Noise Records, the record does not soften its subject. Birch described it plainly: “Our mother died in 2024, and none of us had a healthy relationship with her.” It is also the first album without founding member Ahren Stringer, who departed in 2025. Jonathan Reeves, formerly of Kingdom of Giants and the band’s touring bassist before the transition, takes over on bass and clean vocals; House of Cards is his first full album in that role.

About the Show

The House of Cards 2026 tour follows a September–October European run and arrives in North America from October 31 through November 28, with Sherman Theater as the November 6 stop. Supporting the full run are Blessthefall, Orthodox, and Buried In Spring — described in tour coverage as a metalcore outfit, a rising nu-metal-influenced act, and post-hardcore newcomers, respectively. Four acts across a full evening. Singles “House of Cards,” “Bleed,” and “Heaven Sent” landed before the April release and made the record’s range clear: heavy, melodic, and built around specific grief.
