Rochester has a Tuesday night in October worth rearranging your week for. Benjamin Tod — the Tennessee-born Americana singer-songwriter who started busking on Lower Broadway in Nashville at age 13 and spent formative years hopping freight trains across the country — brings his new full band, The Inline Six, to Anthology on East Avenue. This is the final stretch of a coast-to-coast tour that launched in April, which means Tod will arrive in Rochester road-tested, playing loose, and backed by a full ensemble for the first time.
Tod built his following with Lost Dog Street Band, the duo he formed in 2010 (currently on indefinite hiatus), but 2026 marks a deliberate pivot. The Inline Six is a new full band assembled around his latest album, Vengeance and Grace, released April 17 via Thirty Tigers. He has called it “almost a spite album, to prove what I can do as a writer in whatever medium I step into.” The band leans honky tonk but pulls from outlaw country, red dirt, folk, and indie country — press comparisons have put him closer to Hank Williams than Bob Wills, more Marty Stuart than George Jones. That framing tells you what kind of night this is going to be.
