Hannibal Buress got tagged “the illegitimate son of Mitch Hedberg” by Chris Rock in a 2011 Esquire interview — the kind of comparison that follows a comedian around for a reason. He has since put out five stand-up specials, written for Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock, played Coach Wilson in Spider-Man: Homecoming, and built a touring footprint that runs well outside the usual comedy-circuit cities. On Saturday, October 10, he brings that résumé to the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg for an 8 p.m. show.
About the Show
Buress started performing stand-up in 2002 at Southern Illinois University, made it to Montreal’s Just for Laughs festival in 2006, and arrived in New York in 2008 with enough focus to play two open mikes on his first night in the city and hustle his way onto a third. The early writing credits included Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock; the specials came after: Animal Furnace, Live From Chicago, Hannibal Takes Edinburgh, Comedy Camisado, and Miami Nights. Animal Furnace, Live From Chicago, and Comedy Camisado have placed consistently on year-end best-of lists from comedy critics, a pattern that speaks less to any single breakout than to a career built on consistent, high-level craftsmanship.
Outside stand-up, he has taken on film roles in Spider-Man: Homecoming, The Secret Life of Pets, Neighbors, Baywatch, and Tag, with television credits on Broad City and The Eric Andre Show. Since 2022, he has also been recording music under the name Eshu Tune and hosting the Handsome Rambler Podcast. The Stroudsburg date is part of a fall 2026 tour with more than a dozen confirmed stops across the U.S. and Canada. No supporting act has been announced for this show.
