Daikaiju at The Hangar on the Hudson | October 14, 2026

By Marc Delacroix · August 30, 2026

More than 25 years in, Daikaiju still won’t tell you who they are. The Huntsville, Alabama instrumental surf outfit performs entirely behind masks — members known only as secret man, rumble man, hands man, rock man, radiant man, and electro man — and has toured Europe, China, South Korea, and Japan across a career of approximately 2,000 shows and exactly three albums. The “DAIKAIJU ATTACKS!!!” tour lands in Troy on Wednesday, October 14, at The Hangar on the Hudson.

About the Show

Party Wave Records presents the evening, which opens with two acts that give the bill genuine local and regional weight. The Jagaloons are an Albany-based all-instrumental surf trio operating since 2015, described as “guitar-driven, reverb-drenched, all-instrumental rock and roll” — they share sonic territory with Daikaiju’s world and have shared billing nationally with Messer Chups, Surfer Joe, and Los Tiki Phantoms. Their most recent album, Forbidden Words, arrived in 2024 on Tabu Recordings; they have history at The Hangar on the Hudson, having played the room for their vinyl release party. Rabid Children is the live vehicle for Troy outsider musician Steve Hammond, active for more than 25 years and known for heavy pop and countrified noise rock. Hammond has shared stages with Sleep, Dead Moon, and the White Stripes.

Daikaiju arrives behind Phase 3, their February 2023 album and first full-length in more than a decade. Storm Surge of Reverb described it as moving “from spacious, progressive soundscapes to aggressive, heavy material,” anchored by “bass rumbling that gives them their heft.” Their bio frames the project as “a mutant style of epic, high energy instrumental rock” blending surf, punk, noise, metal, psychedelic, and progressive elements. Kelly Weidman of The Informer offered the shorter version: “They’re loud. They’re all instrumental. And they’re the band to see if you want to experience surf rock at its most offensive.”

Venue & Logistics

The Hangar on the Hudson is a 300-capacity covered outdoor event space at 675 River Street in Troy, in the Capital Region. For a band that tied Public Image Ltd. for “Best show by foreign touring act” in Time Out Beijing in 2013 and has accumulated roughly 2,000 shows across three continents, a 300-cap room on the Hudson is precisely the scale where their brand of masked, all-instrumental assault makes the most sense. Doors open at 7 p.m.
